Diana Frances Spencer, born on 1st July 1961, the youngest daughter of the late Earl Spencer and the late Hon. Mrs Shand-Kydd. Nobody could possibly have imagined what was in store for this incredible lady, who captured the hearts of so many. Diana was known for her shyness initially, especially when the media became aware of a special courtship, while she was working as a kindergarten teacher at the Young England School. The fairytale of the Princess began on 29th July 1981 when she married Prince Charles, heir to the throne. They were married at St Paul's Cathedral in London on 29 July 1981, in a ceremony, which drew a global television and radio audience estimated at around 1,000 million people.
Her beauty and youthful charisma was endearing and quickly earned her the nickname of ‘the people’s princess.’ On 21st June 1982, Diana had her first child, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis and he was joined by a brother, Prince Henry Charles Albert David, known widely as “Prince Harry” more than two years later.
Initially overwhelmed by her royal duties and the intense media coverage of nearly every aspect of her life, she began to develop and pursue her own interests. Diana became a strong supporter of many charities and worked to help the homeless, people living with HIV and AIDS, and children in need. Through her charity work with many organizations that benefited thousands of people, Princess Diana was able to touch the hearts of many with her loving and giving spirit. Her genuine concern for the plight of others and her ability to talk to anybody and make them feel special were her remarkable qualities. Princess Diana blossomed from a shy, private kindergarten teacher, into the people's princess. She was the most photographed member of the Royal Family, but the demand for pictures would intrude on her private life even to the very end.
Unfortunately, the fairytale wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles did not last and the divorce was finalized in 1996. After her divorce, Princess Diana continued supporting charities for cancer, AIDS, leprosy, homeless and children's hospitals. She was also closely associated with the International Red Cross anti - landmine campaign. Diana was a tireless campaigner for the disadvantaged, a woman whose support for individual organisations was described as 'incalculable'.
It was while trying to escape the paparazzi on the night of 30th August 1997, that a car crash took the life of this incredible woman. She was with Dodi Fayed at the time of the accident, with whom it was suggested she was romantically associated.
